Do you ever worry about what goes into your food at a restaurant?!

Question:

Do you ever worry about what goes into your food at a restaurant?

Last night I watched that dumb movie 'Waiting' and now I'll think twice about restaurant eating. It's so sick.

Answers:
No, absolutely not! The only thing I am concerned about is the taste of the food.

Yes, I constantly worry, having heard to many horror stories from friends in the food service industry...

Hahahaha so all you can do it's trust the chef...yeah it could be we eat craps...

You will always worry about that goes into your food in a restaurant, be it a dine-in or fast food.

Now I do. I recently found out that MANY resturants use LARD to cook food, well Lard in animal fat and really clogs your arteries. Fried chicken at Chicken Shack in Detroit Michigan cooks in a combination lard and cottonseed oil which is horrible. the chicken tastes wonderful though.

That movie is hilarous! I think its a slight exaggeration, but I did work in restaurants while I was in college and I saw some retaliation like that, just not quite as gross.

Having worked in several restaurants let me just say that your fears are justified. Best advice - never send back a plate of food.

yes i do, and because i eat in restaurants so much, i prefer to keep it out of my mind. anyway its not likely to hurt or kill you. luckily health inspectors should catch those.

well if you don't you should! once i found a fly in my meal at a restaurant in greece, but this goes for everywhere in the world

i know same with me

Yeah, that movie was sick...lol

Yeah, I have heard some sick stories...

Actually ..yes I am worried sometimes. I like to go to Restaurants where I can see the kitchen. Therefore I don't go out much.
With the prices they charge I can buy the ingredients myself and cook them for my friends for the price of one meal. And I know I don't spit into the foot.

Yes....especially since I read Trainspotting. The part I have in mind isn't in the movie.....I don't think they dared to put it in.

That's exactly why you don't think about it...lol...if you do then you'll never go into a restaurant to eat...we all know that the majority of restaurants out their are disgusting...but the food is sooo good right?> lol...try not to think about it

Boy, do I ever worry. Don't ever send food back to the cook because they might put something in it, spit on it, or worse. The cooks are paid very little and get angry if food is sent back. I was in a cafeteria line once, and the girl serving was standing there picking a pimple! Needless to say, I left, and that cafeteria closed down about 8 months late. There need to be more regulations on the sanitary aspects of food serving and preparing.

Especially when the people that work at most restaraunts don't care. I was at a restaraunt a few years ago, went to the restroom to wash my hands, someone was in the stall, thet finished cane out left the restroom without washing their hands. They had an apron on, so I followed this person. It was the COOK. I told the hostess and walked out.

I worked in a restaurant when I was 16. If you sent the food back, the chef got mad and sometimes, dropped it on the floor. That was many years ago and I still don't return any food for any reason. Even if I order a steak and get sushi...

Yes, I worked at 2 restaurants... One fast food, and one steak house.

When the customers pissed the employees off, the employees did unspeakable things to the food.

Moral of the story: Always, I mean ALWAYS!, be nice to the help!

I always do these people handle your food

I used to be a waiter. Now that I have a good job and can afford the good restaurants I'm extra nice to our waiters and tip them good and when I come back to a restaurant I ask for the same waiters I had last time. That way the know I'm a good tipper, treat me well, and I feel safe about my food.

Also, I make sure that I get a female waiter. Females are less likey to do gross things to your food. Plus, if a really hot, female waiter decided to take off her pants and sit in my salad...I'd kinda find that kinky.

Nah, it would make me nuts and I'd never eat at restaurants. Lack of knowledge is a bliss:)

That's only where it starts. what about the manufactured goods you buy at the store every day, what's really in that hotdog or that McDonald's hamburger, does that chicken I bought contain the bird flu, the tap water looks fresh.....Okay a little anal but ... Life is too short to worry about trivial things.

I try not to think about it. I don't want to see them actually cooking and preparing my food because the process is probably gross - bare hands, you get the idea.

Yeah, I watched that movie too. Grossed me out. It's scary what they could do.

yes. I worry about restaurant food every time I go because I cant forget what happened a year ago to me. I was at a jack in the box, and the person who was getting the drinks sneezed and did not bother to wash their hands. its bugged me ever since.Ughhh

No, but then I only dine at places I hope wouldn't have any issues, (my 2 favorite restaurants have full view kitchens). If I went somewhere where I worried about it I couldn't enjoy my dinner.

yeah! Especially if you send your food back for something, I always hope they don't get mad and pee in it or something! ahhh, oh no!!!

I used to work at a restaurant and I gotta say, be nice to the servers because you don't know what they will do to your food. Also, McDonald's is a restaurant as well yet plenty of people still devour the trash that they call food regardless of how sanitary it looks.

I saw the movie "Waiting" too. I thought it was hilarious and disgusting at the same time. I don't worry about food I order at a restaurant, but I would NEVER send a dish back for ANY reason.
