Question:

Need ideas for a party ... Please help!?

I need ideas for entertaining guests at a housewarming party.... anything from games, music, and drinks. Please help.

Answers:
Since it's a housewarming party and everyone will want a tour of your home when they get there or will sneak off on their own tour, plan on doing some odd decorating (family pic in the main bathroom with everyone stairing at the person using the toilet, upside down pic on the wall, big ribbon bows tied to blinds, christmas tree (any holiday decorations) decorated in middle of august, really bad smelling scent in house / room, anything people would consider weird of you in your home and that's easy for you to remove. Go along with some of the odd looks people give you and explain it away for some trip you recently took or fung shei - don't let in on your secret. Then when everyone is there and has had some form of tour, let them know you have a game you'd like them all to participate in and have them write down all the different design techniques you've used in your new home. Whoever gets the most weird things you did on purpose wins a prize.

I heard of a wild idea of improv cooking. You hire a chef or have someone designated to cook. Then, you invite your guests to bring a random food item. The chef must then cook unusual combinations of food. For example, Captain Crunch and Chocolate Cake.

how about this.........leave your clothes at the door! have an orgy, nothing is better than sex!

UNO! or scrables, JUMAICAN RUM, TEQUILA, HAVANA, CIGARS, guesing the age of the individulas. and give them points, if they come close. be CREATIVE.

In your shoes, I might lay out a simple, elegant buffet on the dining table and let people graze on things like chicken puffs, crab rangoon, bruschetta when they first arrive, then maybe a spiral sliced ham with some potato casserole, braised veggies and a tray of fresh fruits for dessert. That makes the prep and the cleanup very easy.

For drinks, keep a simple bar with Rum and Coke/Diet Coke, pre-mixed margaritas on ice (not blended), pitchers of Sangria, and then beer and lots of soda pop.

For games the old "Win Lose or Draw" game is always fun, especially if you're not sure how many will show up. That lets you put people in teams so that if new people arrive late, they just jump in without losing a step.

If you're entertaining and want people to talk, then simple music is the best. 60s/early 70s classics are always good because everyone knows them and won't be annoyed by the beat. Or you could go with the smooth sounds of Lou Rawls, Luther Vandross and others from the 70s Soul era.

House warming ????? oooooo try hot cocca or coffee for bevrage
dark red, purple, and orange are great colors for that

You could have a themed party. No place feels like home moreso than when you were a kid, right?

You could have all the "old school" games. My friends and I had a blast one evening playing 'hungry, Hungry Hippos", "candyland", "memory", "Connect Four", and of course "Battleship" Now of course, you can't forget "Twister" Who hasn't played that at a birthday or slumber party! We found the games were just as entertaining, if not moreso (we invented some new rules) now that we were older.

If you wanted to expand it to food, you could ask everyone to bring their favorite childhood food. Or you could make some cookies for dessert, ants on a log, crackers with cheese, little finger sanwiches on white bread (with the crusts cut off, of course!) You could still do alcohol, but if you wanted to theme that too, you could just vodka, rum, or schnaps with various flavored juices.

Then of course, a childhood theme opens up the conversation to all the "back when I was young" stories.

Whatever you decide, I hope you and your guests have a memorable and fun time!

Go with the classic of Pizza
