Pink birthday party?!
Pink birthday party?
I'm having my 25th birthday party as a pink-themed girl's night... any suggestions for food and drinks? Here's what I've come up with so far... strawberry cake, cookies with pink frosting, shrimp cocktail, chips and dip with food coloring, blush wine, raspberry cream martinis, and sangria. Any other tips for foods? Particularly any easy-to-make salty foods? I'd also like suggestions for an easy shrimp cocktail recipe if you have one...
Thanks!

You could do a variation on a veggie pizza by baking up a "crust" using crescent rolls pressed into pizza pan. Bake that up, then mix together some cream cheese with cocktail sauce and covering it with more cocktail sauce and some crab meat.
Little tea cups of crab bisque with a little pink tint in them would also cut through all the sweet with a little salt and cream.
Tint some hummus pink and serve with pita wedges or bagel chips.
7 Layer Taco dip with some salsa mixed into the sour cream to make it pink would also go well. You could tint the refried beans with a little food coloring to make them a little more vibrant, too. The green guacamole would look pretty against that.
Punch
watermelon
have you ever tried vodka infused with raspberries? Very pretty and yummy too.
anything is possible if you have pink food coloring
When i go to a grownup's birthday, it better be co-ed.
pink M&M...all girls love chocolate :)
Go to a teachers supply store. They have those huge rolls of craft paper. Get some pink paper in 10 or 15 yards and put it on your front walk leading up to your door for a "red carpet" spin.
Shrimp cocktail is simply boiled raw tail-on peeled and deveined shrimp. Dump the shrimp in boiling water and cook 1 or 2 minutes til it's pink. When it's pink, it's done. You can flavor the water with zatarraines cajun shrimp and crab boil to get a slightly spicier shrimp. Then just serve the shrimp with cocktail sauce.
Yeah, it sounds like everything on your menu is sweet. More salty/savory dishes would be good. For great ideas check out Sandra Dee's "almost homeade" at www.foodtv.com. She makes a lot of pink foods for girl parties.
BUT, I must agree with the girl above me who wrote that any adult birthday parties she attends are best when they are co-ed..maybe you and all your friends are sick of men at the moment, but I would consider inviting them. Otherwise all your girlfriends are going to flake out early in the night to go meet up with their boyfriends.
Have fun!
