What a dilemma to be faced with, when I'm in this position this is what I do.
I scrub 8 - 10 potatoes, quarter them and put them in a pot of cool water (just enough to cover them). I boil them till a fork easily pierces them. I then drain them and put them in a mixing bowl.
I add 1 cube of butter, 1 package of cream cheese and a splash or two of cream with salt and white pepper (to taste) and then mix with my electric mixer.
Put into a slow cooker/crock pot and set on low, sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top and when you're ready to eat, it's ready to be eaten....YUMMY!
Did you notice I didn't say a word about peeling them? I don't because when I scrub them the peel becomes quite thin and is quite tasty in this recipe.
Twice baked. That way you get the best of both.
just bake the potato, then take the innards out and mash them up with sour cream, butter, chives, bacon w/e you like then put back in the shell, top with cheese and bake until bubbly!
I love mashed potatoes with butter, salt and pepper or gravy...but I know that baked potatoes are healthier for you! I rarely eat mashed potatoes, anymore, anyway, though!
Baked potato would be healthier. Mashed potatoes are delicious.

i'd go with baked and you should eat with ranch it is good. or sour cream with melted cheese.
