I honestly do not think you can get a bakery (or probably not even a supermarket cake) for $10 in your area. I own a bakery in NJ and I am REALLY cheap and my 6 in cake costs more than $10 bucks.
If you want a 6 in cake from my bakery in NJ give my husband a call-email me for his number. We actually are delivering a big order to the city this weekend(not sure which day, yet). I would love to help you out -- and he would deliver it close (meet you somewhere) to you for $10.

You can easily get a small cake for ten dollars. A small round not so tall chocolate cake. You can also buy assorted cupcakes and put candles in them. Sadly, I do not live in Brooklyn so I do not know any local bakeries.
The Cake Boss is in Hoboken....Is that very far from Brooklyn...? I live in Calif so I am no help...as far as Bakeries close to you.
