For a serious, impressive get together use silver, for everyday...use stainless. Silver is a pain to keep clean, but it sure is beautiful to use when it is.

Stainless. Silver can get oxidized and turn into ugly grey-black.
Stainless. Silver is such a pain to care for and you can't put it in the dishwasher. We have some silverware we inherited that we never use.

stainless all the way ........ certain foods will discolor silver making it hard to serve that type of food. I don't think the elite use silver anymore. Just a good quality stainless
