Can a wine cellar also double as a cigar smoking room?!

Question:

Can a wine cellar also double as a cigar smoking room?

My husband and I are custom building our home and are including a substantially sized wine cellar and we would like to know if such a room would be suitable to double as a cigar smoking room would the smoke be detrimental to the bottles of wine. Experienced or knowledgable people only please.

Answers:
Hi, we were told NOT to smoke around our wines, as the corks can absorb the smoke flavours, thus possibly changing the tast of the wine. Good luck, and enjoy your cellar!

the smoke should not interfear with the wine because a basement has mold and other things in the air and they dont effect the wine

THE SMOKE WILL CUT DOWN ON THE AIR MOVEMENT, WHICH IN TURN WILL WARM THE ROOM... MAYBE A SEPARATOR OF SOME SORTS BETWEEN THE TWO COULD HELP... CIGAR ROOM FIRST THEN THE WINE ROOM. SOUNDS LIKE A COOL IDEA TO ME!!!

No way! The two should be separate & distinct. They both require different environments.

The ultimate is the “cigar room.” Like the wine cellar, it’s specially constructed to conform to the correct temperature and humidity requirements and can have storage for thousands of cigars . . . and the easy chair, big-screen television and spirits and snacks bar to enjoy them with. > Ashtrays;
> Cigar bands and band diaries;
> Cigar books and periodicals;
> Cigar boxes and jars, especially of vintage brands;
> Cigar sculptures (especially from Austin Sculptures);
> Decorative humidors;
> Historic or vintage matches and matchbox covers;
> Historic or vintage lighters;
> Smoking jackets;
> Vintage cigar ads, and

It would indeed injure your fine wines.
Cork is porous and eventually it would influence the flavor of your drink.

Don't do it.
