It depends on the type of party you're having. The parks by our local river are basically City/County property and certain rules must be followed, and you have to get permission to use the facilities. This really isn't all that hard, usually just a phone call.

Our City asks that we do not have glass containers, and they are very clear about no "public intox" going on. Remember, parks are generally kid friendly places... They don't say no alcohol, but the cops do patrol the parks, and will arrest anyone who seems outright drunk. If you're not serving alcohol at the party then no worries! =)

Personally I love outdoor parties, I think that they can be loads of fun. I usually combine my outdoor parties with some sort of cook out or picnic foods. Be sure to bring plenty of seating or blankets and maybe some outdoor games...and have a great time!

if you plan on drinking at this party, the river could be dangerous for the drunks! But basically i would just be more worried about it getting broken up by the authorities, although it would be an awesome place to party! And a lot of fun!
