It it ideal to have parents present at my party?!

Question: It it ideal to have parents present at my party?
My 18th is in a couple of months. I live in the UK and alcohol is legal at this age. My parents are insistent on staying in the house, but logistically is it not a better plan for them to not be present?

YOU might be responsible. Put a group of people and alcohol together, and things can get out of hand rather quickly. A drunk person will do things that he would NEVER do while sober.

This is because alcohol lowers the inhibitions. You're better off having your parents there.

Many young adults are responsible about drinking and about treating others' property well. On the other hand, just one or two people who get out of control could ruin the party and possibly the house. They might not listen to you trying to calm them, but might listen better to your parents. (And you might feel better not having to discipline your peers!)

The best solution would be for your parents to be there but be out of sight. If they're not needed, they need never make an appearance. But this way they're your security in case of something going wrong.

You can try this two ways: You can try making it obvious that the parents are in the house (although unseen), or you can try an experiment: Have them hide the car and not make their presence known and see how your friends handle themselves. If they handle themselves well, then your parents and you can know that they will likely behave the same next time. (Although it still might seem weird to make your parents leave their own house. If everything goes well and they'd still rather stay next time, I wouldn't consider it a big deal; they won't mess up the party. If they'd like to go out for the evening, then fine.)

Well, you are still young and naturally your parents are concerned on you so let your parents join and enjoy your birthday party they are so important to your life.Have a wonderful birthday party.

I wouldn't leave if I were them. They may trust you, but maybe not so much your friends. Especially when drinking. Why not have your party at a local Pub?

no get them outta there, you wanna let loose and have a good time
