Ideas for a 21st cocktail party! SUGGESTIONS NEEDED!?!
I'm turning 21 soon and I've decided to have a cocktail party. I'm even thinking a 1950s cocktail party, boys in suits and bow ties and girls in pretty cocktail dresses, but haven't decided on exactly what kind of cocktail party yet! :)
Anyways, I really want some unique ideas for my party. I don't want it to be just another generic 21st. Anything from costumes to decorations to invites. I really want some outside input!
SO PLEASE! Ideas/suggestions/opinions needed and appreciated!

It may be easier on your guests, however, if you just pick a "vintage" theme. Tell them it's fancy dress, but everyone has to come in something other than your typical modern-day wear. You don't want to be TOO specific, because it may hard to find something to wear.
Personally, I think 50s would be fun. The girls could easily find a long skirt and blouse, and the guys could come in sweaters and jeans (which would be easier). The invitations could look like records. You could even go to Goodwill and buy some old records and somehow (paint?) write the details of the party on there.
You could have a sundae bar with old-fashioned 50s sundae cups (think of the roller-skate diner days).
That sounds like a great idea! I would have love to attend something like that for my friends.
I am not sure how you'd feel about a James Bond theme, but that would be awesome IMO also. Plus, you'd get points from the guys and they'd know exactly how to dress for that (still the bow tie) or maybe they could dress up as their favorite "bad guy" from the movies. The girls would be told to dress as the best "Bond Girl." You could serve a signature Martini, though not necessarily the same one as it doesn't taste very good... = ) Casino Royale is a Bond film, so you could have some poker set up, or other card games. For invites you could send out "Missions"... of course this is super theme-y but I think it could turn out awesome.
www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=james+bond has several pictures from all the films.
The Carnival and Party Warehouse in Glebe has great costumes and accessories in many themes, they also have lots of decorations, cut outs and back drops you can use to decorate your venue.
I recently had a party and contacted them at sales@capw.com.au and the sales manager was extremely helpful, i even had my decorations express posted out to me so i didn't have to go into the store!
I highly recommend them!!!!

Just make sure that you were the youngest. If you aren't, you can face arrest charges for corrupting a minor.
