What is pud-cake and where did this term originate?!

What is pud-cake and where did this term originate?

Is it some kind of food?


Answers:
It is a southern thing. It is a yellow cake then a layer of pudding then another cake on top. Then the whole thing is frosted. Can you say suger overload? It really is good however.
