Why in movies or on the tv ,?!

Question:

Why in movies or on the tv ,?

in the usa. do they always use a old style kettle, you never see an electric kettlle used in the usa ,anyone know why.......

Answers:
Electric kettles DO exist here in the States. They just aren't very popular. It probably has something to do with the fact that Americans consume much less hot tea than other countries, and thus we hardly have the need to boil water in a kettle - old fashioned or otherwise. (Most americans are addicted to the cups of joe that come from our trusty old coffee makers - appliances that ARE very popular in the States).

Many of us just aren't compelled to buy an electric kettle, although if you drink/serve a lot of tea, I can see how they would be a really great thing to have.

I have an "old fashioned" stovetop kettle and I rarely use it... on the rare occasion that I drink hot tea, I typically just zap a mug of water in the microwave. Buying an electric kettle would mean having just one more appliance sitting around that never got used. It's that simple.

I don't use electric kettles (UK)

I live in Melbourne Aust and recently had some American friends who had never seen an electric kettle. I couldn't believe it! Maybe not that many people in the US know about them??

Maybe you should sell them outside the studios??!?!

You've got electricity?

We have electric kettles. What do these people use? A pan? Or a hob kettle? Crazy.

Put the water in, switch it on. Brilliant!

Next you'll be telling me there is sliced bread available

The bigger question is: Why on TV are the presents they give each other wrapped to that the lid can just be lifted off? Why don't they use gift bags or wrap paper all hte way around a box?

I've never seen one here in the U.S., or even heard of one. I've never bothered to look, either.

Then again, as the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I don't know why really...I've always used a kettle on the stovetop...

All depends on the setting of the show or movie on tv. I would say people tend to have a old style kettle most of time. Saves on electricity I believe.

what r those??? I think That I use.... I don't even use those HAHAHA LOL My mom uses a coffee maker by electricity.

It's a visual thing. A kettle has to look like a kettle, otherwise the average American viewer might think it is a deep fryer and get confused as to what the people on screen are doing.

Looks Good

What's a kettle?
