What to make for dinner party?!
Answers:
Instead of an appetiser you could go for canapes or nibbles. Things people can eat while they're having welcome drinks and standing around chatting. Things like dates wrapped in pancetta, olives, tiny puff pastry discs topped with things like goats cheese and caramelised onion, and pesto and mozzarella.
How about a roast joint of meat with vegetables and the appropriate condiments? Or you could make steak with mushroom and red wine sauce, served with a side salad and potato (daupinoise or gratin works best). Keep it simple, it'll be more elegant.
Then how about, as your welcoming a new baby girl, pink cupcakes? Or you could make a gateaux or french style fruit tart.
Catered a wedding dinner for my step son and bride in December. Started off with seasoned Mayport shrimp, cheese balls and such while people were gathering. Then the dinner was Caesar Salad, roasted asparagus, Shells stuffed with Ricotta, chicken and spinach served with Alfredo sauce. Dessert was, of course, wedding cake, but Tiramisu would be a great dessert choice.
