To me the most simple dessert to make is cheesecake. It's simple and very easy to make. I say it'll take about 5 to 10 mins. tops. You can do it before hand and put it in the refrigerator by then I'll be ready for you party. I hope you enjoy my idea.
250 gr. quark and 250 gr. whipping cream. 1 orange and icing sugar to taste.
Beat the cream, gently mix in the quark (you can use cottage cheese) Squeeze in the juice of one orange (lemon or lime) add sugar to taste, sprinkle with grated rind of chosen citrus fruit cover with cling-film and put it in the fridge. Hey presto! Ready when you are. This one's French - for working women who are still expected to entertain their husband's bosses.
Want to sin a little? Melt 350gr. dark, dark chocolate in a bowl over a saucepan of simmering water. When melted add two egg yolks, a desert spoon of butter and some whiskey or cognac. Sweet-tooths could add a little icing sugar. Beat the egg whites and fold into the mixture. Cover with cling-film and pop it in the fridge. If you're not sure of your eggs, are old or pregnant avoid this one - the eggs aren't cooked. - Yeah OK - this is French too - same source. But you have to admit it's quick.
It's old fashioned but everyone likes Tapioca pudding.
Easiest - Trader Joe's Chocolate Ganache Cake (or torte?). It's frozen. Simply unthaw and serve with a Chambord reduction sauce. No one will ever know that it's not fresh.
Second Easiest - Jello Custard. Make according to directions, but use a mix of heavy cream and whole milk. Let sit. Slice up high end fresh fruit and berries; blueberries, golden (NOT GREEN) kiwi, strawberries, peaches, papaya. Place the fruit on top. Options: 1) Sprinkle with sugar and caramelize with a blow torch/creme brulee torch/broiler. 2) Find pre made crepes and spoon the mixture into the crepe. Fold like a burrito, using a dab of custard to hold the crepe closed. Sprinkle with cocoa and powdered sugar and top with a dollop of marscapone or whipped cream.

After dinner set the pan in warm water for about a minute. Put a plate over it, flip it over and it should slide out beautifully. Peach jello is really good like this.
