Any ideas for a valentines dance?!

Question: Any ideas for a valentines dance?
I was put in charge of decorations. But its not ANYTHING like decorating for a halloween dance!! Halloween is easy. Do you have any creative ideas for decorating a pretty big room for a valentines day dance?

(Non-expensive things would be nice, I'm on a budget..And I could make home made stuff too)

I will enjoy the valentine with my girl friend with very memorable with kiss.

pink, red, and white streamers and balloons
giant cardboard hearts painted to look like conversation hearts (maybe with "class of..." or your school's name)
a cupid cutout (or handmade cardboard pic of him)
arrows made with dowel rods (or thick kebob skewers) and paper or foam hearts
try birthdaypartyideas.com.... they have holiday party ideas, too.

Red and pink wall decor, bowls of candy hearts etc.
You should go to the dollar store or Walmart and pick up some things.
Other than that just normal dance decorations.
You could for sure make some awesome homemade stuff
good luck!

Here's a video on how to make a string of hearts....can write on them, leave plain or decorate:

(also a cute idea to hide a red heart lolli in the body of a paper heart mouse...lolli stick is the tail)...that's also on the video.

String your crepe streamers in a twisted fashion----do you have a plain wall where you can display red balloons in the shape of a heart?--can tape to wall.

Can make your own mobiles by using a dowel, fishing line .....and "free" paint chips from a store!...can cut circles out of the chips or hearts....or can use one of those jumbo-size paper punch shapes from a craft store. Get all kinds of pinks and reds and lavenders and white...(you want the paint chips that are square...not the skinny ones on a strip)....just string a bunch down in a row and by punching a tiny hole at the top you can tie a knot with the fishing line and then attach like 4 lines along a dowel (don't forget to make knots on the ends of the dowel to bring up together to tie to be able to hang up).

Get some red paper and make some little valentine "people" by adding googly eyes and draw on some eyelashes and a nose and smile and have them looking at each other (can add additional parts like arms and legs and have them holding hands.....like the M&M candy cartoons).

You can always embellish a regular plain heart by gluing on shredded metallic pink paper (that you use for stuffing gift bags).....using spray glitter to give them a shimmer.

I've even seen where people take regular cupcake papers in a Valentine design and poke a hole through all the bottoms in the middle---then they run kitchen twine through them, bunching them together...one facing out, next one facing in, etc....that makes a cute garland, too. You can always add curling ribbons hanging down from the ends when hanging.

Tying taffy candies one to the other to make long strands works, too (again, embellish with ribbons...buy cheap from craft store--check your store's website for weekly coupons). Can hang those in doorways or wherever they'll fit....even as as garland to drape along a beverage table. (Give away at the end of the dance).

Take a regular rectangle shape paper (use plain or scrapbooking paper?) and just twist around until it becomes a "cone" with a pointy bottom. Glue a ribbon around to hold it, put a daisy flower in the middle of the ribbon where you tied it, make a bow. Use cones to hold 3 flowers or snacks or strips of button candies, or treats....just set them inside a clear plastic glass so they stand up. Or lay carefully down on a table if it's just holding fabric flowers (use your judgment).
