What should one bring to a potluck?!

Question: What should one bring to a potluck?
I've been invited to a potluck today, and I need to bring something because I want to make a good impression, but I'm horrid at baking and cooking! What else can I bring that shows I care/ made an effort?

Thanks!

I've seen buckets of KFC vanish at potlucks.

Usually, whoever is hosting the potluck will assign dishes to invitees. If you weren't assigned something call the host and ask if you could bring whatever it is you decide on.

Visit Jello website for delicious recipes.

Make a delicious dinner salad with things like onion, tomatoes, avocado, mushrooms on the side since not everyone likes these things and make a homemade dressing or bring a couple of bottles of delicious dressing.
Cut up fresh fruit for a beautiful dessert. Add bananas just before serving.

In the winter months its great to bring nice warm bread to go with the soups and stews. Stop at one of the better grocery stores and get some nice loaves of bread from the bakery area.
It will go over very well.

Enjoy. Oh mix up some honey and butter to go with it and put it in a small container next to it, yum yum, and maybe pick up a jar of apple butter or some other kind of spread like a cheese spread. It will be a hit, I promise.

OK, you want to go really easy? You'd be amazed how many people love a good piece of bread. Go to the supermarket and get some "artisan" bread baked right there in the bakery. Something crusty/cheesy/seedy, whatever -- if it looks good, it probably is good. Get a couple of different kinds of loaves. Get them whole, unsliced, if possible. Go to the grocery section and get a tub of WHIPPED BUTTER -- get real butter, and get it whipped -- it comes to room temperature faster and spreads much, much easier. And nothing tastes like real butter. Be sure to bring along a knife people can whack at the bread with (large and serrated is best, if possible). You might also need a knife suitable for spreading butter. That's it! Don't forget to bring your knives home with you!

All good suggestions. Use your supermarket deli. Get a simple pasta salad and then add a few things of your own to make it special. Like some small cooked shrimp, or some chicken (also from the hot deli) and then a few fresh veggies to liven it up. Celery, red peppers, olives, things like that.

Add a good loaf of the fanciest bread or foccacia you can find and they'll love it.

My favourite thing to bring to my annual families pot luck is a nice pitcher of water and a jello mold of my face! everyone loves it and I get lots of comments. One year when i brought the water everyone was so surprized that I would spend so much money for something like that. I just say there is no business like strobuisness! :)

What food should you bring to a potluck? Good food. What have you liked best at potlucks? For me, it's the hot side dishes. You can make or buy some fried rice, and provide soy sauce for folks to serve themselves. Or, order a large pan of chow mein from your local Chinese takeaway. Enjoy!

pasta salad is always easy to make and it keeps, if u make without mayo.
and everyone loves pasta salad.

but if u don't like to cook you could get a veggie tray, or bring the paper plates, napkins and stuff

my mom

you could make soup with chicken broth and veggies, a nice garden salad, or a meatloaf (all you do is put the ground beef and other ingredients together and let it bake for a certain number of minutes lol google an easy recipe).

You could probably bring drinks or some snack such as chips, etc. Or you can make your own salad, salad is usually pretty simple to make. You can also make sandwiches.

Chili is always fast and simple! It sounds like allot of work but it's not. You could scramble up some hamburger, or if not- spice it up with some jalapenos!

Creamy Salsa Dip

It can't get much easier than this one. Mix together equal amounts of chunky salsa and sour cream. Bring along a bag of tortilla chips for dipping.

So delicious!

did your host give you ideas of what to bring.
would be an idea to contact them..... just so everyone not bringing the same.

salad peas corn
