Baby shower food advice?!

Question: Baby shower food advice?
i am throwing a shower for a friend in april and we are trying to brainstorm some ideas for food. I am having it at my house, and it should be spring weather here, and this will be a shower with men, women, and children. Would like to keep it simple as possible, but still be enjoyable. We have few ideas, and are trying to keep things on our budget. It will be mostly family members and a few of our friends. I was thinking having hamburgers and hot dogs with sides or possibly making a lasagna with salad and a few other simple sides. I was only thinking of lasagna because it’s something different & I could just bake it while we are getting other stuff together. I need some advice, thanks!

I quite agree with the other poster re: lasagna--if you have the space for everyone to sit down, it works. Otherwise, stick with the hotdogs and hamburgers. A fruit salad would be good to go with, and then there's the shower cake.

Been to baby showers

i like anything 'mini' when it comes to mingeling and parties, that way it's easier to eat and walk and talk.

try mini grilled cheese sandwhiches, piggies in a blanket, mini burgers, spring rolls, taco salad is always nice, skewers of veggies and meat, shrimp cocktail, summer civiche with saltines, even try a cold casserole, like pasta salad but doesnt need to be heated.

I went to a event at an elementary school and the PTA did a baked potato bar. It was pretty cool. There was everything you could think of to put in the potatoes...sour cream, guacamole, cheeses, bacon, veggies, chii....everyone brought one item and the school's Principal had the cafeteria bake all the potatoes.....

And potatoes are not expensive. Just thought I would throw this out to you....

Good luck.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, chili or baked beans, potato salad, chips and dip. Fruit platter.

Or sandwich subs with potato salad, veggie platter, fruit salad. Chips and dip.

Well I would go with sloppy joe, a hit with adults and kids and no condiments to mess with. Have some chips, fruit, veggies and macaroni or potato salad. Keep it simple to cook serve and clean up.

What you serve depends on whether each guest has a place setting to sit down at and eat or not--if they have to juggle things on their laps, then lasagna would be too difficult for them. If everyone is at a table (s), then it doesn't matter what kind of buffet you put out. If your family enjoys lasagna, then do it--keep in mind how many you'd have to prepare. There's nothing wrong with doing a meal with sides like you planned--can also offer baked ziti if that's more convenient than the lasagna. Make a couple different salads...have a fruit dish in there somewhere (a fruit bowl, an Ambrosia or on a platter--I did a Baby Carriage out of a watermelon for my daughter's>>http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http… was adorable!
