I would like to throw a birthday party in california. How would I go about seeing if we could have beer and wine for our event. We would like a venue with a baseball field and don't want to get in trouble for serving alcohol at a park. Help and suggestions?

The first thing I would do is call city hall and/or the police. They'll probably tell you it's not possible. A lot of city parks will rent out for private parties, but because of liability issues in a public setting, serving alcohol probably won't be allowed.
