Not everyone is the type to get up and dance, just provide the right drinks and the right music with the right crowd.
Have everyone bring a CD or their favorite dance songs and play them in order of arrival. First one to show up gets theirs played first and so on. Also create a theme, like one party have 70's Disco music (just a suggestion, you can change it up however you want) and have favorite foods of the 70's. Here is a website to choose favorite foods of the era (they also have a bunch of different decades to choose from): http://www.foodtimeline.org/fooddecades.… Also a themed cocktail is fun, if doing the 70's theme go to this website http://www.gourmet.com/recipes/cocktails… they also have a bunch of different decades to choose from.

The best parties are all about the best guests, classy snacks, and a gracious host. I never have a party around games or the TV. I play music and it is up to me as host to mingle, introduce people and make them feel comfortable. Outside of that (and plenty of ice) guests have the task of being a gracious guest
