Suggestions for playgroup food?!

Question:

Suggestions for playgroup food?

I'm hosting playgroup tomorrow that begins at 10:30 and the moms and babies usually stay about 2 hours. What would be a good mid morning and easy snack to serve? Also drinks too? I'd prefer not to bake anything- it's hot plus I don't have much time with a 6 month old to care for!

Answers:
Good ol' fashioned FRUIT. It's healthy, and you can cut it up into little fun-sized bits. Bananas, grapes, melon balls, pineapple, berries, apples, etc.

Offer the moms some whole grain crackers and cheese, too.

I vote for ants on a log. In case you haven't heard of this snack before, it's just celery with peanut butter spread on it and raisins put on top. Never met a kid that didn't love ants on a log!

cheerios, gummies, cute/funny snacks, anythong cute or somehting easy!

For the kids, make some stacked sandwiches - white bread, peanut butter, wheat or white bread, marshmallow fluff, white bread, grape or strawberry jam. Cut the ends off and cut them into shapes - squares, triangles, circles. Serve with milk.

For the moms, raspberry or plain iced tea (with an umbrella or slice or fruit to make it fun!) and serve some soft cream cheese with salsa or pepper jelly or any homemade jams on top as an appy. Have a veggie platter with different colored veggies and dip. A bowl of yummy chocolates for a treat!

I know you said no baking, but this is a peice of cake and my new favorite! I don't know how old all the kids are you are having over, but at least the moms will like it. My one, three and five year old all loved it too.

Desert Nachos: Spray tortillas with cooking spray and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Cut into triangles and bake at 350 for 10 min. Put strawberries, a splash of orange juice and a little sugar in a food processor or blender. (Resembles salsa.) Then put out some cool whip. (Resembles sour cream.) Easy...only took me about 5 minutes plus the cook time.

Have fun at your group!

Rice Krispie treats - optionally add raisins or chopped up dried fruits. Can be done in microwave in under 10 minutes.

Lemonade, pink or original to drink.
