What are some wild and crazy facts?

Sicne this is in the food category I'm assuming you want weird food facts. Here's a few:
Capsaicin, which makes hot peppers "hot" to the human mouth, is best neutralized by casein, the main protein found in milk.
Chocolate contains phenylethylamine (PEA), a natural substance that is reputed to stimulate the same reaction in the body as falling in love.
Large doses of coffee can be lethal. Ten grams, or 100 cups over 4 hours, can kill the average human.
The dye used to stamp the grade on meat is edible. It's made from grape skins.
When honey is swallowed, it enters the blood stream within a period of 20 minutes.
Hmm, here's a couple, one I've known for some time, another I spotted just today.
--If I recall my reading of _Popular Science_ correctly, there is a fellow in Baltimore I think....he has a *shrinking machine*.
Catch is, it only works on small, *metal* items like dimes and quarters. He has, however, been able to shrink your average US dime down to a size smaller than a shirt button.
It works on the principle of *explosive magnetism*.
--Also...did you know that pure serotonin, that neurotransmitter that modern anti-depressants are supposed to boost, is actually painful and toxic in high enough amounts?
Really, one of the *three* big components of *stingray venom* is raw, straight serotonin. It makes the wound hurt worse.
I knew this courtesy of finding out more about it when my father got his leg stung by a ray (long story short, it was beached, and he thought it was dead, so like an idiot, he wanted a picture of him standing on the thing like *he had killed it his own self*....stupid is as stupid does). However, the recent death of Steve Irwin (Crikey! You were supposed to leave the barb *in* dude and your heart intact! *lol* Teasing a little...Bless your soul Steve, rest well) at the wrong end of a ray led me to search the info up and refresh my memory....
And the weird part is....the use of serotonin as a poison isn't unique to animals....plants do this too. *Potatoes* do this too when they go to seed.
And now, the links to back them up. :)
