If you have access to a beach, pond or swimming pool, give the party a surf-inspired theme. Encourage guests to dress in tropical or surf-inspired clothing. Give out tropical lais and serve fancy "mocktails" in carved coconuts, topped with festive paper umbrellas. Mix contemporary tunes with classic surf music, such as Beach Boys' hits from the 1960s. Beforehand, select a decorative patchwork of colorful beach towels. Let each guests choose one to take home with them instead of a "goodie bag." To incorporate a raffle, hide a prize under one or more of the towels.
