Need help with an Old Glam Hollywood Birthday Party?!

Question: Need help with an Old Glam Hollywood Birthday Party?
I am having an old glam red carpet hollywood type party. I am making it formal (no Jeans) and plan on having the red carpet outside, hollywood walk of fame stars on the floor with my guests names on them, rodeo dr signs, and other decorations. I am going to give awards to the best dressed male and female. I am looking for other ideas and possibly games for the party to help express the theme. I am very nervous that if the theme is not expressed enough then you basically have a birthday party with people way tooo overdressed. Any ideas for other awards to be given would be awesome too. Thanks!

Answers:

Make the party decor glitzy as well...hang sheers or gossamer fabric with little lights showing through behind it. If using balloons...display them in a different way>>gather a few together, have them different heights, spray with craft glitter, and when arrangement looks good, tie together and place under a rock to stand up from the floor (cover rock with tissue paper).

Food table is a focal point of party: again..can have linen cloth with a velvet overlay with boxes placed underneath overlay to show off foods at different heights (large cans work too as "pedestals"--no one will see them as they're under the overlay). Place tall candles or can use large glass vases with tinted water and float tea light in them>>wrap a ribbon around the vase, add a flower or jewels in middle of bow. Place a set of crystal glasses on a mirror so it shows a reflection....candles and appetizers can be displayed on various mirrors, too. (just be sure they're clean)
Either fan paper napkins out for a pretty effect or fold linen ones like one of these:

(something like the Buffet Napkin or Diamond Envelope that holds utensils is good...but if you're just doing finger foods, utensils won't be needed)

Set out anything that sparkles and reflects light to add to the glamorous ambiance. Other props can include director's chair, megaphone, clapboard (you can make one yourself).

Name your foods: "Best App (short for appetizer) in a Leading Role"
"Best Design for a Mocktail">>>>serve sparkling drinks in fancy glasses with garnishes
"Best App for All Audiences"
"Best Dressed"....I'll give you link to make tuxedo-style chocolate strawberries:

"Best Ensemble Cast"....I'll give you link for a nice recipe>>Honey Drizzled Cheddar Cheese

"Best Visual Effects Dessert"....these are Vanilla Cheesecake Shots
What You Need
3/4 cup half-and-half
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tub (8 oz.) Cream Cheese Spread
1/2 cup sugar
12 NILLA Wafers, crushed (about 1/3 cup)

BLEND all ingredients except cookie crumbs in blender until smooth.
POUR into 1-oz. plastic cups; top with wafer crumbs. SERVE immediately.

Games:
Who Am I: Guess the Movie Star Game

This is a great game to start the party out! Before the party, write down a bunch of actor and actresses names on a piece of paper. Cut each out. Once all the guests are settled, tape a name to each persons back. The guests need to ask only yes/no questions to try to find out who is taped to their back. For a younger group of guests, pick out names of characters from children's movies that they would most likely know. For instance, Woody or Buzz from Toy Story, Flick from Bugs Life, Beethoven (the dog), etc.

Movie Trivia

There are plenty of Movie Trivia games on the market that you can buy and use the questions to host a game show for your stars. Break your party into teams, and ask a trivia question to the team. Each team that gets the question correct, gets a point. The first team to get 10 points, say, wins. Here are some helpful links:

Have Paparazzi start taking pics as each guest arrives and shout excitedly! Send pics to guests after the party...can have photo frames for guests to decorate themselves with supplies or hand them out as gifts in their "Swag Bag" (treat bag)

Have movies playing in the background....play the song "Paparazzi" by Lady Gaga...even some show tunes, etc.

Awards can be : Most Dramatic Entrance (to the party)...Best Supporting Role in a Friendship....(male and female)... Best Action Actor in a Fearless Role (probably for a male who does sports or who is kind of a daredevil)......Best Comedic Actor or Actress (your funny friends who are always cracking jokes, etc)...just think of more if you need them and tailor them to your specific crowd.

I wouldn't have the space overly cluttered, but instead very eye appealing where it captures your attention...if you have a chandelier, that's good...otherwise don't use overhead lights --can set spotlights up behind furniture or plants.

Ladydi must be a party planner! Very awesome ideas presented by her - I don't think anything has been left out. I think a "Hollywood" sign emulating the one on the hill in Beverly Hills would work better with your theme than a Rodeo Dr. sign, but I'm guessing you may already have the Rodeo sign.

I am wondering how you will have guests' names on the fame stars? Are you assigning each guest with an identity? Are you putting the guests' real names on them, or the names of the stars they're dressed up as? I like the idea so much, I ask you so I can try it sometime!
