Question:

Looking for best innovative ideas for a sweet sixteen party?

Answers:
There are so many party ideas......

How about a party designed around on of her school activites?

If she plays basketball for example throw her a "basketball theme" You could make cardboard cutouts of some of her fave players and rent a court to have the party at.

Since it is a birthday milestone..... Why not an "Over-The-Top" party? Have oversized decorations and wrap the gifts in huge boxes even for little gifts. Use lots of ballons. It ould be a real fun party.

How about a "Roaring 20's" party? Ask everyone to come in costume and have different gambling games and set up a "prize bar" where the guests can exchange their winnings?

If your daughter is really into fashion... How about a "Fashion Victim" Party? Have everyone where clothing that they already own but would never wear in public because it is "unfashionable". You could give out a prize to the biggest victim.

How about a "Tacky Party" ? It is similar to the fashion victim, but have everyone wear taped glasses mismatched pants and shirts. Have them bring tacky gag gifts... Ans serve tacky food like cheese sandwhiches, chocolate milk, and fig newtons in the shape of a cake. Play tacky games like musical chairs, bingo, go fish, spin the bottle, simon says, and more

How about a "movie screening" party? You could rent a new release or a favorite oldie and serve popcorn. You could have a trivia game about movies. I had a friend move her tv to her bakyard and set up blankets and lawn chairs and had her screening outside. She served hotdogs and nachos from machines she had rented.

If she is into music.... How about a "Grammy After Party"? You could rent a hall or even a canopy to put over your backyard. Have a red carpet and instruct everyone to dress up. Check in your local yellow pages under preformers/impersonators and see if you can hire a couple to impersonate some famous singers. Ask a few of your daughter's friends parents to be "paperazzi" and take pictures of guests entering and leaving the party. Play all the latest music. And encourage people to dance. If you are computer savvy you could make "CD" invitations. Have the birthday girl make a recording of herself inviting people to come with all the details. You can buy cds very cheap from discount stores and sleeves to deliver then in too.

What's your birthday girl's favorite color? If it's blue why not have a blue party. Make all the decorations in her fave color, cake, and invitations.

Hope these help. Good Luck on the party!!

I am an event player.

You could pick a theme like pirates, a beach party but without the beach or favorite cartoon characters. You could hire DJ and have a non-alcoholic bar stocked with sodas, bottled water and juices. To make the food portion easier, you can have pizza or have it catered, a lot of fast food places cater if they are told about it ahead of time like Churches Chicken for instance. If you can not afford a DJ,any sound system will do if it has large enough speakers. You could give out the invitations the old-fashioned way, face to face decorated in the theme of your party, that can be done at Kinkos or other similar stores, even on your home computer if you have the neccessary programs.

How about a Black & White party? All decos are B&W, adn guests should wear B&W.

A Stripes party. Everyone wears stripes, whether they match or not, head to toe. Decos are stripes, all varieties. Cake is striped. Serve neopolotan (stirped) ice cream.

How about Pirates of the Caribbean? Everyone come in Pirate clothes, and eat Caribbean foods like shrimp, jerk chicken, rice pilaf, Coconut Cake, Pineapple Smoothies, etc.

Make some sort of "necklace" for each guest. It can be a paper cut-out with yarn to put it around your neck. Decorate it in the theme of the party. Then give one to each guest. The trick is that if anyone catches someone else saying a code word or words (what do teenagers say a lot? "like" or "cool" or "hot"), then they get to keep their necklace and any other necklaces they have accumulated. At the end of the party, the person with the most necklaces wins a prize. Make sure it's a really good prize.

Do a terribly elegant high tea.... very tongue-in-cheek, of course. Serve tea, fresh strawberry lemonade, crumpets, finger sandwiches, petit fours, tiny tarts and eclairs. Have the girls wear pretty dresses with garden party hats and gloves.... with a prize for the best hat? You can use pictures of the Queen Mum on the invitations for inspiration, and they can just raid the thrift stores if budget is an issue. But we girls sure do have a lot of fun when we have an excuse to wear a great hat.
