I want to have a theme dinner. Maybe south pacific ideas, cuisine?
We have dinner at each other's house for watching survivor each week. I would like to have something a little different, any ideas?
Answers:
Why not have survivor dinner? Only serve things that have been eaten on the show. Such has coconuts and bananas. If you are not wanting to go that realistic try

both have great searh engines that can help you find dishes based on ingredients.
I use allrecipes all the time for that feature.
Hope this helps!! Have a great day!!
Roast a pig. Check the yellow pages for caterers - in my city we have "Danny's Whole Hog Barbeque". Yummy!
Pineapples and Deviled Eggs
poi,... it's like purple pasty pudding,.. traditional served at all luau's. In stead of authentic poi,.. just add purple food coloring to vanilla pudding much yummier,... pork also served at luau's along with sushi
How about a roasted pig? Depending where you live, this might not be too difficult. Or you could just say you are having roasted pig and grill pork chops with barbecue sauce and pineapple rings. Yum!
Asian BBQ Ribs
Grilled Pineapple slices
Rice Pilaf
Grilled Veggies (squash, carrots, red bellpeppers, zucchini)
Coconut Cream Pie for dessert.
Hawaiin dinner sounds good! Lots of ugly shirts must be worn!
when my mom and dad were married for 40 years we had a theme anniversary party for them. we got grass skirts, flower leis and even brought in a kiddie wading pool, filled it with water and added floating candles. we played Polynesian music, wore flowers in our hair, made pineapple chicken, roasted pork, Hawaiian style, server tropical fruit drinks and had alot of fun. i hope i gave you some fun things to do .
sushi is alwalys a good thing ----doesnt mean raw fish ----it means wrapped in rice ---- go to foodnetwork.com ---lots of ideas here check them out
Hawian food is very similar to chinese (canton) ..Sweet and sour pork or chicken, rice, etc. If you do pork, you could do a pork roast over a spit, cover with sliced pineapple and roast. Use tiki torches (these things smoke, so you may not want to). Wear bright colored skirts (sarongs) with hair up with chop sticks. ????
Whole shrimp are fun, grilled pineapple is great and get sugar cane to use as cocktail mixer sticks.
of course you have to have something like they eat on the show. I would wait and found out what some of the dishes are on the island that they are at and fire those up.
picnic in da livin room....... with picnic basket...... maybe do 6 foot subs veggie tray chips an cupcakes. serve all on paper plates .....
Survivor tv show theme party...have a hog roast for sure. dont pay the high price to have it catered its more fun to do your own. I did a luau theme party last summer, i made the hog roaster from an old fuel barrel for a total cost of about 30 dollars, the hog was a small 60 lb hog but was more than enuff to feed 40 people. make sure to rub the hog down 2 times a day for 2 days prior to roasting. the decorations coast about 40 bucks
