Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a?!

Question:

Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a?

Answers:
At one time I worked for Sunbeam Appliance Company. The setting for still toasters is for regular size bread. The adjustable toasters need to be set one third from close to open. If you still have a problem, you have a faulty thermostat. You can contact the service folks and explain your problem. If the unit is under warranty, the repair is free and you pay the postage. If it is past warranty, I would suggest you call the service center and get a thermostat and take the unit to a small appliance repair shop.

its for bagels and other types of thicker bread etc

There are some people that like the toast burnt.

Because some people like it that way?

The setting is there for more dense breads like bagels and frozen things. They require a higher setting and longer cook time.

Some people like their toast dark, or if you want to make crusty bread for a recipe.
