What can i make with shish kabobs?!

Question:

What can i make with shish kabobs?

My daughter is turning six years old next week and we're having a birthday party for her. I'm not much of a party planner, but thought that I would make shish kabobs (sp?). I'm wondering what I can make a long side of this that will complete the meal. I will be serving pizza, alfredo, stuffed mushrooms, deviled eggs, salad, chips and dips, and of course the cake, ice cream, and drinks... I feel like the I need something else to go with the shish kabobs, what do you think?

By the way, I have about 50 people coming to this party. AND, I do want to make this as simple as possible.

I love planning parties . The pizza which I guess is for the kids along with the stuffed mushrooms , Alfredo and salad are Italian. I really don't think that shish kabobs go with the rest of your menu. You are better off with a tray of baked sausage with meatballs and you should switch the deviled eggs to shrimp w/cocktail sauce or to brushetta served w/brushetta toasted breads or thinly sliced Italian bread.

Rice or cous cous

serve a nice risotto or rice dish on the side. i think that would complement the shish kabobs nicely.

Wow! Sounds like you have a great meal planned. I've also put cut pieces of fruit ( grapes, oranges, apple etc) and cheese chunks on bamboo shishes for snack-type appetizers. Everyone loves them. Have Fun!!

Shish Kabobs are usually served on rice.

Rice mixed w/ sauteed onions & bell peppers & pine nuts.

English Pea Salad
Canned peas w/ mayo & diced or shredded cheddar cheese.

Just how hungry is your daughter and her 6 year old friends?

The children will only interested in pizza, cake and ice cream. If you need to also feed the adults that come with the children, get rid of everything else. Make a larger salad and after you finish grilling the kabobs, place the kabob meat on top of the large salad.

Don't forget some bottled water for both the children and the adults.

a nice wild rice goes well

Your menu seems a little sophisticated for a bunch of six-year old kids. Pizza, chips and dip, cake and ice cream are standard kid party fare, and the rest is overkill (more work!!).
Six year-olds have small appetites and tend to be picky about what they'll eat. I'm not so sure that kids that age are going to appreciate stuffed mushrooms, Alfredo, and deviled eggs.
If I were you I'd stick with the pizza, chips and dip, salad, and cake and ice cream.
The Shish kabob i would definitely forget because a child will chose pizza over shish kabob any day, and the potential risk of a child hurting themself with the skewer.

I have to agree with not making kabobs for 6 year olds. If it's for the adults, you can serve it over rice or cous-cous (I know it's not spelled correctly) Your already having alfredo so you can always serve it over that. *shrugs* good luck

brown rice would work ,

make garlic sauce with them and also french fries, also boil vegetable rice............,yummy.

Shishkabob are REALLY labor-intensive. Cutting the meat, soaking the skewers, skewering the meat.... It sounds like your menu is good. I think the only thing I'd add is a big gree salad. Skip the shish. JMHO

How about a colorful pasta salad.
You can get colored veggie spiral pasta
Add your favorites whether its olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, mini chunks of cheese
You can either put Robusto Italian dressing on it or try ranch...either way its yummy and colorful!
