red colors without red dyes?!

Question: Red colors without red dyes?
See my daughter is allergic to red dyes in food. Anyone have ideas on how to make a cake that's brown without using red food coloring? Is there a natural coloring I could use?

use coco powder... its brown, tastes good in cake, and is completely natural

You could try using some of the Pomegranate juice concentrate. That has a very "red" property to its juice. You might want to try other juice concentrates like beet, tomato, cranberry, grapes, etc. The cocoa powder suggestion people made here is another good one for making things dark.

Good luck.

do you want brown or do you want red? cocoa or carob will make brown. Beet juice will make red.

Chocolate Cake?
