Well there 2 entirely different things. Prom is a dance social event for high schoolers mainly! There is usually a theme such as "under the sea" or "bonnie and clyde". The event is very forma (girls elaborate dresses, boys in tuxes) Everyone dances and socializes. Usually there is a queen or king crowned which are usually the socialites of the highschool also known as the most popular kids!!!
Then there are parties which vary. There can be drinking parties, monopoly parties, bingo parties, bonfire parties and once again its a social event for people of any age to socialize and entertain. They are alot of fun if you go to one that you have interest in.
