Its always good to have your party organize and in a order cause there is always that fool how thinks they are cool and mess everything up
I guess you mean like why can't you just randomly tell people when and where to show up and hope for the best?
--you will have uninvited guests, probably lots of them, vs. if you actually hand out invitations
--you will have no clue how many ppl are coming and you won't know how much food/drink to buy
--you run the chance of everyone showing up and sitting there looking at each other if you don't have some sort of theme, games, music, ambiance, etc.
--you will be in the middle of the party and realize you have no _______ (ice, straws, place for everyone to sit, etc)
--if you are of drinking age, you will want to have someone sober who can help make sure your house doesn't get damaged, people don't drive intoxicated, no underage drinking, etc...basically keep things under control somewhat
I could go on but those are the main reasons.
Because it is in human nature to want to impress people, and have others complement you on the said party.
other reasons nowadays can include, for example, a teenage party, where it is a status symbol to hold one, and everyone brings drink, so in many ways, it is cheaper.
