Any ideas for themed disco parties?!

Question: Any ideas for themed disco parties?
I need a theme idea for a disco. By this i mean a disco wiv another theme. My best friends are having a joint 13th bday disco party soon and they want an awesome theme. People we know have already done a hawaii disco, a pink disco and a beach disco, so we need more ideas! :) the problem is, we dont want people to have to go to too much effort, like going out and buying loadsa stuff. Also there are abt 60 people comin! :D any ideas, anyone?

Answers:

You could do black and white - most people already have black or white clothing anyway ..
or masquerade - all they really need to do is wear a mask and dress nice

hope this helps , I'm looking for themes and decorating for my 16th birthday party ..

Do a Goodwill or Salvation Army disco. Everyone has to wear only what they found at one of these stores. It's really funny, and some people are very creative. It's also pretty cheap. We bought a lot of clothes and threw them in a box; anyone (we had very few) who didn't follow the rules had to reach in the box and wear whatever they came up with. Receipts had to be shown at the door, too. This benefits the charity, and you can also donate the clothes when you're done with them.

We had a Punk Por Libra party like this in El Paso, Tx., in the '80s and it was a blast. There were stores that actually sold clothing by the pound ("por libra") downtown, and just about everyone who came had great outfits. Hope the fact that I'm an old-timer doesn't keep you from considering my idea.

'80s

since disco started in the seventies, why not have a 70's
themed disco. big hair (real-l-y big), lots of eye makeup,
swirl-y skirts (for twirling on the dance floor - i assume you
are thinking about dancing?), button front shirts for the
boys that only buttoned from bottom of shirt to just below
chest, loads of heavy looking gold chains (can buy regular
chains at hardware stores along with a can of gold spray
paint - look for something that could be a medallion-like
thing to put on the chain at the hardware store - paint
the chain and the "medallions" with the gold paint for
the boys to wear with their partly open shirts). if you haven't
already seen it, rent saturday night fever for ideas for dress
styles. serve cheese salsa dip with tortilla chips, potato
chips with ranch dip, and make a "bunch punch" with all sorts
of flavored drinks like lemon-lime carbonated drink, strawberry
flavored non-carbonated drink, pineapple juice, apple juice,
non-alcoholic champagne, etc. these are all the things that
were there when i went to real disco parties in the 70's.
oh, yeah - serving wiener chunks wrapped in refrigerated
biscuit dough with a piece of cheese and then cooked in the
over was usually there. have fun anyway!
