college theme parties?!

i am leaving for college in a few days as a freshman. i've never been to a college party so i don't know exactly what to expect.

i have sports jerseys from home, should i pack them?
i've heard that common college parties use a sports or jersey theme and am wondering if it would be a good idea to pack the jerseys.

any opinion? thanks
