My 2 year old wants peanut butter sandwiches for his birthday party, do you think I should just serve that ?!

Question: My 2 year old wants peanut butter sandwiches for his birthday party, do you think I should just serve that ?
My soon to be 2 year old loves peanut butter and hates jelly (I know hah?) he wants peanut butter sandwiches morning, noon, and night. He turns his nose up and everything else, even Pizza!!! I make something nice for dinner and he just sits at the table and asks for "pe-ah-ut-ah"

so should I just serve that for his birthday party? my husband and older son suggested making 3 or 4 sandwich platters and 2 of them being peanut butter. Do you think that's appropriate?

If you're talking about a party for just kids, I'd do exactly what he wants. But yes, be sure none of the kids invited is allergic to peanuts. You don't want paramedics at your party. Have his favorite soda, his favorite cake and ice cream, his favorite whatever. Other kids will like those things too and it's his special day.

If you're talking about a party for your family, aunts and uncles and cousins and grandparents, then you need more than peanut butter sandwiches. You could have a tray of peanut butter sandwiches and cut them in cute shapes. There are cutters made for sandwiches at the dollar store that make dinosaurs or little cars. Have some jelly on the side so those who can't choke down plain peanut butter can add it on their own. Then have either a couple other trays of sandwiches, maybe roast beef and turkey, or just put out deli platters and let people make the kind of sandwich they like. I like bananas, apples or pears on my peanut butter sandwiches, and I want rye bread. We all have our little quirks, I guess.

make some peanut butter sandwhiches or whatever you know that your 2 year old loves...to make it more party apropriate take cookie cutters and cut the sandwhiches into shapes..it makes it a lot more interesting for the kids =] besides its your sons big day lol let him have what he wants =]

Do a couple for his birthday. Explain that this is special becuase it is for his birthday and so there for will only be for special occasions after that.

Yes he may only be turning two but he will understand at least a bit. If you have other kids coming do all sandwiches. Do some pb&j qnd some plain pb, and use cookie cutters to make them more fun.

Try adding a banana, or some snack pack puddings to go with the sandwiches. I agree with the older son Have peanut butter and chopped ham sandwiches.

It is very approiate for a two year olds party.
But, considering there will more than likely be adults there, you should have something for them too.

I would make other parents aware of decision in case there are any children with peanut allergies

it's peanut butter jelly time

Yes, if everyone else wants them too

It's his birthday, let him eat what he wants!
but then cut him off the peanut butter quick!

If there will be lots of kids at the party, then do the 2 platters of PB sandwiches. However, that would not be my first choice of a sandwich as an adult. Go ahead and have some of what he wants, and then add some other types of sandwiches for those who are not PB lovers. I think that the assorted platters are a great idea! Happy Birthday #2 to your son. Enjoy his special day...........they grow up soooo fast!

For some variation, have you tried mixing some maple syrup into the peanut butter? Add just enough syrup to make the PB real creamy. Spread on bread....yummy.
