How to have a memorable sweet 16 on a small budget?!

Question: How to have a memorable sweet 16 on a small budget?
I'm not going to lie, I have caviar taste on a string cheese budget. I am helping my friend organize her sweet 16 but she is paying for the party all on her own and is going to have a budget of around $800 if not less. I know you're probably thinking "wow that's a lot" but she doesn't just want a sleepover or a movie she wants it to be something special and memorable but I need help doing that for her.

She really wants it to be a formal event and be held somewhere nice, but i've looked around at venues and we would only be able to afford somewhere like the american legion or the elk lodge and she doesn't want somewhere like that, she thinks they look tacky.

Neither of us live in a place where there is a club house or have nice yards, I just need to help her find an affordable place to have her party and I need ideas on how to make it look nice, were going for a fall theme.

If you want to help look for venues with us we live in Southeast Michigan

please help me to help her

If you go to a church ask them or if not you could still ask and they would probally give you a deal. Next is food. Have your mom and any of her friends and you could help and find fancy recipes. For the venue you could also have it at another friends neighborhood and use a clubhouse or something. With fun ideas, i dont know what your into but have a theme and google games for that specific theme. You could get your cake at a sams club or walmart or just bake one. go to a dollar store or walmart for decorations and plates and other things. Also you could have a spa or something if its at a house or clubhouse. Just ask your mom and her friends for that too and look up facials and other things and paint nails.

hope i helped

Get all your girlfriends together and have the largest daisy chain and be sure to post the pics.

for 800 ill come over and bang all of your friends..that would be a pretty memorable sweet 16

What would she consider special/memorable?

Do you guys have a community center in the area? Sometimes a fair grounds area will have building to rent out. Although if she doesn't like the Elk Lodge suggestion, the ones I made probably won't be to her liking either(although you could at least find out and scout the location maybe).

I imagine renting out a "conference room" in a local hotel might be steep as well.

As someone said, if you have any contacts a decent looking church, that might work out.

Do you know where Troy, MI is? There is a Maggiano's (Italian restaurant) on 2089 W. Big Beaver Rd. It has great food and I'm sure you're friend will be able to afford it. Maybe not a banquet hall, but reserve a table and have a nice dinner. That's always nice.
