well, the most important thing when throwing any party is the music that is played. You probably want something like:
Michael Jackson- Thriller, or
Diana Ross- Upside Down.
As or the decorations go, you should have some very bright, colors and very abstract shapes and patterns such as:
Music notes, peace signs and simples shapes will do.
The food should be something standard and simple like
nachos, plain punch, popcorn, frozen pizzas, or tacos.
For game ideas you could play "1970 trivia remedy"
it's a game where you get questions about the 70's (ex. popular movie came out in 1973?) and people have to answer as quick as possible.
Watching a movie on a Old- fationed projector screen is always a classic too
