What side dishes should I serve w/ a Chinese spiced roast suckling pig?!


Question: What side dishes should I serve w/ a Chinese spiced roast suckling pig?
We are having a pig feast(!) for my son's 16th birthday The pig will probably be obtained from a Chinese BBQ place. We are having his favorite -- caramel cake - for dessert. So besides those two super rich foods, what are some yummy side dishes that are not too difficult or too rich but would go with Chinese pig BBQ?

cabbage salad with asian dressing
veggie tray & dip
corn on the cob
cheese & fruit tray

The highlight is the pork so stick with simple, light flavours that don't detract from the main focus.

I would also stick with an asian theme as it brings all our flavours together and makes it a real experience rather then just a blob of food on a plate LOL

The caramel cake sounds delicious and really is a nice sweet end to the typical sweet, sour asian flavours.

As for sides my suggestions would be light, delicate flavour salads such as
Asian style slaw with soy & chilli dressing ~ www.taste.com.au
Asian Carrot & Sprout Salad
Asian Greens with Chicken & Crispy Noodle Salad


Also rice of some sort is an obvious addition ~ enjoy the bday - they grow-up so fast :)
