It's my friend's birthday and I've got her a cake, but....?!

Question: It's my friend's birthday and I've got her a cake, but....?
I've already bought her a little (4-5 inch) pale pink cake (chocolate inside) which is supposed to look like a birthday present with a white icing ribbon around it and her name written across it in pale blue coloured icing. It's more a gesture than a "birthday cake", because when I ordered it I didn't realise she was going to have an actual party. Now i'm thinking maybe I should make her a big birthday cake that we can put candles in and give a piece to everyone, or some cupcakes decorated with "Happy Birthday Sara" on them (one letter on each cupcake). The thing is she isn't a big sweets person, so I don't think she'd want a big cake or loads of cupcakes. So I was thinking of just giving her the small cake as a present (it's from a really fancy and well known bakery and it will come in a nice box), but then she might not get a birthday cake. Or I could give her the cake as a present for her to have and then make mini cupcakes with happy birthday, for everyone to share at the party.. and we could still put candles in them. What do you think?

Chances are whoever is planning the party (your friend or her family, perhaps) will provide the cake and ice cream for the guests. You could always ask the party planner if they need help with a cake or cupcakes.
Your gift of the miniature cake is really neat. A great idea!

Who is giving the party? That person will probably have the cake ready. If you've been asked to supply the cake, the cupcake idea is great...or you can make/buy a sheet cake and when you get to the party, set the mini cake on top...if they go well together, that is!

I think the small cake you had made for her you should give as a present to her and I would not bother with anything else. After all the probability is that who ever is organising the party might have already sorted it out.

Hmm ............ there is no problem with it at all ...
but .... as a present ,,,, i hope no 1 is doing the same ....
