It is for her 5th birthday and she wants Giselle from the movie Enchanted. I bought figurine but having trouble deciding how to decorate cake.

Stairs are easy. Make two square or rectangular cakes and place them on top of each other (maybe with some yummy cream or jam in between). Carve out the steps with a sharp knife (serrated is good if it is a standard butter cake) and maybe carve the sides a little to give it a nice curved staircase look. Cover with icing and place the figurine on top. If you want a handrail down the stairs maybe you can poke some toothpicks into the cake and then stick a thin lolly (snakes, licorice, etc) along the top to make the rail. Have fun.

At that age, she will just pull the figurine off the cake and be happy with that. I would do a simple decoration. Do some pastel colors, flowers, and Giselle stuff. Just have some fun with it and she will enjoy it.
