Do you think this is a pretty idea for an outdoor party?!

Question: Do you think this is a pretty idea for an outdoor party?
My husband and I are pretty conscious about creating unnecessary garbage to fill the landfills. Were hosting an autumn themed party for about 20 guests next month at a local lake. We already have a huge set of plastic bowls and plates for outdoor parties, but we usually buy disposable utensils. It's never sat right with us throwing all that plastic away. There is a local thrift store that literally has buckets of utensils, and they're having a sale this weekend where the utensils are $0.10 a piece. We were thinking of getting a mismatched assortment for this party and so we could keep and reuse them for future parties. Do you think that would look nice if we had mismatched knives forks and spoons in pretty containers for guests to use instead of disposable plastic?

Answers:

I've never been to a party where people examined everyones forks, I don't think anyone would mind. Also, I've found that people forget which cup is thiers so they toss it and get a new one. I have used the "hi my name is" sticker on the cups, and you would not belive how many cups that it saves. Best of luck with your party

Absolutely! I think that it is wonderful that you are conscious of unnecessary garbage, and sharing that with you friends is wonderful. There is no problem with buying cutlery at a thrift store as long as you are washing it. As long as you display it well, it will be beautiful. Don't let people who don't care about the earth put you down. You are doing a great thing!

No, it would not look pretty. It would look like you just baught a bunch of used utensils from a thrift shop...and that sounds gross.

Go green or go Home
