I guess that depends on how much time your character wants to spend with his/her date or in front of the stove! What's on the rest of the agenda? if you stuff the date full of comfort food, they'll want to pass out, exotic fish and veggies you might have an evening ahead of you...lol....

Well, I think you should look at some gourmet chefs menus. One that comes to mind is Gordon Ramsey, on his website there are menus for all of his restaurants. I suggest you look at Vera, it was amazing and the food was great.
