have a lovely picnic :)
Depends on what you like You could do cold sandwiches, Turkey, pastrami, ham, veggie. I would put all components in separate containers so they don't get soggy. For example, if you are going to have lettuce and tomato, mayo and mustard, dressing, these things can make a soggy sandwich so have them separate. slice up some onions, pickles, olives, peppers and put in containers. a salad of some kind, macaroni, potato or green, chips or something crunchy. I would buy white, sourdough and wheat rolls. A flavored tea. All put in a cooler.
For dessert, a really good fruit salad, individual cakes, cupcakes, hostess treats, pre made pie, cookies (assorted) the possibilities are endless.
Think of being a little kid having a birthday party at a park. I don't know what your culinary skills are but you could also find a spot near a pitt and barbeque meats and bring all the sides.
Good luck. I'm hungry now!
You could do fried chicken and some mac and cheese with some nice rolls.
hamburgers
hot dogs
brats or Italian sausage
boneless/skinless Chicken breast
baked beans
pasta salad
cole slaw
potato salad
bean salad
corn on the cob
brocolli salad
vege tray with dip (or without)
Fresh fruit tray or bowl
Cut up watermelon, cantaloupe, add grapes, kiwi, strawberries, blueberries, fresh pineapple ... anything you want.
Put into large bowl. Unscrew the flower part off the top of the pineapple and place it into the center of the bowl for a pretty presentation. It looks like a flower and could be the centerpiece for your serving table.
Dessert
Make it easy. Cookies, brownies.
or
make your own ice cream sundaes. Just have an assortment of toppings that your guests can use.
For drinks:
Purchase an assortment of canned soda, and some bottled water. Put on ice and keep in a cooler. Everyone can help themselves. There is no need for ice, glasses, and the mess of pouring. Single serve makes it easy.
Burgers and Hotdogs are the easy classics, potato salad and baked beans with a bread item as side dishes, and iced tea, lemonaide, and soda are good drinks. Here are some websites to give you a little more creative approach to your typical picnic without going to far overboard.

Fried chicken, or wings, ribs, burgers, hot dogs are choices for a main dish. Baked beans, corn on the cob, deviled eggs are good for sides. Iced tea with fresh lemon slices, or lemonade are good drinks. I love Texas Sheet cake for dessert (it holds up well for picnics), and maybe some ice cream.
