Lily, I read that some other 13-year-old on here will duplicate her friend's birthday idea of having a scavenger hunt at some mall: What I mean is the kids would be split into groups to take pictures of things like an old couple kissing at the mall, a baby in crying, etc.

If you are going to have something like the above, I would suggest having a second part of your party in which you actually engage in traditional (and still fun) activities, like playing the always-favorite game of Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Here are some other suggestions of entertainment and the sort for parties like yours found on this recipe site:

Remember to be a good host of your party, following these tips, as applicable:

Hope this helps.

The Internet. Just whatever is available online and what I have on my mind, including the inclusion of relevant sites, like the one cited that came into existence thanks to my efforts, which is intended to be useful. Helping people get the relevant info they want is great.

let her go with frenz to the mall for 2 hours then get a couple moovies for them to rent for the night, make nachos and pop, kids love pop or even have them make smoothies together and homemeade pizzas, get her a favorite cd and let them have a fun little disco in her room , get them each a cheap flashlight from the dollar store and they will have so much fun making their own disco at night jammin to her favorite music, it could be a disco theme and just make a round cake with black frosting on it like a record , how fun would that be,,,get them all colored hannah montana wigs from the dollar store too

Theme:
Dress up
Halloween,
Hippies of the 60's
Hawaiian
Hollywood Stars
Las Vegas
Rock N Roll
Classical
Princesses

Let each guest bring or wear something from that Era. Best one wins a small prize.

Seeing as how it's so close to Halloween, she may not want the traditional way of having that kind of party...but how about doing a Masquerade Party? The only thing required is a mask. Girls must design and create their own mask to attend.

Send out some fun mask invitations. Put all of your party details on a piece of cardstock, attach it to a metallic mask that is decorated with sequins, jewels, feathers, etc., and hand-deliver your invites. Have it say "Find a mask and wear it well so your true identity no one can tell."

To create instant ambiance, intertwine white Christmas lights into your artificial trees, along with framing your doorways, stairs, windows, etc.

Here's some masquerade party ideas for finger foods, which would be perfect for this type of party:

Shrimp
Finger sandwiches
Quiche
Nuts
Chocolate Fountain
Strawberries

Hang sheer gossamer fabric in dark colors around doors and use to cover dining table. Have candelabras or several taper and pillar candles adorn the length of the table....black and reds with ivory or silver would be good color choice...or do a deep navy instead with hot pink and silver. Make the ambiance "mysterious".
Hang pics of well known (to them) movie stars, musical artists and place masks on them and have them guess who is who....in other words, show only the eyes. See who gets the most right.

Do things around a magical, mystical theme.....perfect time of year for it! Get one of those mystical balls that give answers to questions....then have girls write down a bunch of questions, put them in a bowl. Mix them up and pass bowl around and everyone pulls out a question to ask the Magic Ball. (Have them think up some really good questions!).
