What should I do for my son's 2nd b-day party?!

Question: What should I do for my son's 2nd b-day party?
My son will be 2 in mid November. It's right before Thanksgiving so it will be too cold for an outdoor event. We want to have the party at our house but what kind of party could we have and how to entertain the kids in a small space??? (There will be 2 six year olds and the others are about my son's age or babies - it's a small group and most of the kids are too young to benefit from hired entertainment). Any ideas on how to keep children entertained and maybe some fun themes for the party?

Answers:

A puppet show might be a neat idea, it doesn't have to last for a very long time and it would keep the kids entertained. You can call around and see if there is anyone in your area that does that. If not, you might have some talented relatives that might give it a try. Have toys out as well for the kids to play with, big chunky things that little hands can easily grip. As for themes I would just choose something big and bright, zoo animals or farm animals are easy to find if you don't get everything from the same store. Another idea is instead of having a cake make cupcakes, remember though that they will probably only eat the icing, so not a great idea to use colored, it does stain clothes. I put rainbow sprinkles on my cupcakes it gives a colorful affect and kids love it. I hope your son has a great party!

Since his birthday is right before thanksgiving you should combine thanksgiving and his birthday party together that way you wont have to do double the cooking you can just do all in one day.

Two year olds will just run around. Just put toys out for them to play with.

A nice pasta dish with organic tomatoes and cheese! And some red wine for the grown-ups. ;D
