Or get info about 70 years ago and decorate 1940's. Grey and White Photos, spash of Pink on cake and decor.

my mother owned a party supplies store when i was little then she was a florist and i learned a lott from her planning parties and such. It is best for older people to use their favorite colors. They really seem to enjoy that you used a piece of their own personality to throw something wonderful in their honor. My grandmothers favorite color is mauve and we used that along with a pretty beige for her cake and then we bought some live roses as a centerpiece and gave them to herafter wardss. Older people seem to enjoy things that are simple. I would go for the favorite color and/ or flower. He/she will appreciate it no matter what.

Use her favorite colors. Nothing too drab (e.g., white and gray tones), but also nothing to flashy (neon green with saturated purple). For the cake, any color would do but classic white frosting with red icing never fails.
