say she's turning 50 write "happy 30th birthday" or if she turning 35 write "happy 25th birthday"

Add a touch of good-natured humor to the birthday cake with a punchy line or two. Messages such as "40 Isn't Old (For a Tree)" or "You're How Old?" might be good for people who are self-conscious of their age.

Nothing wrong with just "Happy Birthday Mom!" with some little hearts or xxoo on there.

I have seven kids and would just love it if they made me a cake and wrote on it at all!
