Question: Bahamas Party Theme Ideas?

My two brothers and I are planning a birthday party for our mother. We're still in the beginning stages(selecting theme,invitations,etc). I have came up with the ideas of having a Bahamas themed party, a Hollywood theme or even going to Bahama Breeze to celebrate. The party will be for around 30 people and this is my first time planning a party, I've been asked to decorate and all that Great stuff, I guess you could say I'm like the creative one of the three of us(my brothers), they're very Manly man type but I'm kind of lost at how to make the party fun(I know how to go out and have fun but not plan fun..lol<<<if that makes any sense). I'm guessing we could play games,music???...So I'm asking for suggestions (Themes,Game Ideas,Any Ideas??..haha) that will help make things clearer for me. I want to make this party as special as possible, we've had a 50th *over the hill party* for her 7 yrs ago and I was 12 @ the time so I didn't plan anything so I'm wanting to TOP the 50th party, I want it to be where people are talking about it months from now. Bahamas ~ decorate with tropical theme, an area of sand and beach towels/umbrella's
~ Play reggae music
~ Food - BBQ or Spit Roast
~ Ask each guest to send you a picture of themselves with your mother and write a short paragraph about something they remember/love/enjoy etc about/doing etc with your mother ~ these can be stuck on a board or in a book and put on display at the party.
~ Games - cruise/boat type games such as quoits, beach volley ball

Hollywood theme ~ in some ways an easier theme then the Bahamas idea - decorate with gold, silver, white and black balloons, silver and gold stars, movie posters, red carpet runway, black tie waiters serving champagne and canapes, "Oscars" awards presentations, show a movie (think old classic - something your mom loves).. or even a 'fashion' show!
As for games ~ movie trivia games or look for the Turner Classic Movie edition of Scene It ~ this features film clips from classic movies and would easily go with a 'trivia' style questions
~ 'Prizes' - include movie pass for winner, DVD of classic movie,
