I LOVE Halloween parties!!
You could spend your money on extravagant Halloween decorations, but really the scariest part is the mood. You have to set the mood. The best way to do this is:
1.COBWEBS. you can get a few bags of cobwebs at the dollar store and they go a long way. put them everywhere. On pictures (tilt the pictures), on your kitchen cabinets, on lamps, tables...everywhere.
2. CANDLES. Candles galore! Turn off all the lights in your house (except maybe the kitchen). Totally makes it creepy
3. STRING OF LIGHTS. Get a package or two of orange or purple lights and hang them around the top of your walls. It will add to your light, but also add to the vibe.
Here's some things you can make:
1. Candle holder out of a wine bottle. Take an old wine bottle and paint it black. Taper candles fit perfectly in the top. Get a different color candle (orange) and the wax will drip down the side and contrast the black.
2. Witch's Curtains or Doorway drapes - Get a big black trash bag and lay flat on a work surface, open end toward you. With scissors, cut 1 1/2-inch vertical strips from the bottom, stopping a few inches from the top. Cut open one side seam, then unfold bag. Use masking tape or tacks to hang. Then, with hands a few inches apart, grasp each strand and pull; stretch strands in several places for a decrepit effect.
3. Fake Blood - Simple to make, Take 1 c. Karo Syrup, 1 Tbsp Water, 2 Tbsp Red Food Coloring, 1 tsp Yellow Food Coloring and mix together. (Easy to clean up, just use water and a paper towel) You can put this in the bathroom sink and counter, maybe the bathtub with a "bloody" hammer or something.
If you want, make it a costume party. Those are always fun!
