throwing a retirement party, and I need ideas.?!
Answers:
You coudl gather a bunch of telephone directores ("phone books") and stack them in the center of the table to display the buffet... varying heights make it more appealing visually, but then they fit the telephone theme.
I don't think I'd go too wild w/ the phone theme, though. Just color-coordinate the plates, napkins, utensils, cups.... aren't verizon's colors red and black?... use those colors.
On a sheet cake, you might have them put an old wooden telephone that you had to stand at and talk in the mouthpiece, holding the earpiece up to your ear.... then on the other side, a slick cell phone.... to show the changes over his years of working.
