I remember eating a lot of junk in the 80s. Moms were all working and I was a kid in the 80s. Flavored pops like orange and grape and cream soda were popular and didn't seem like something our parents generation ate a lot of. Doritos's seemed like a new thing but I could be wrong. Especially Cool Ranch which may have been early 90s. Pop rocks are an 80s thing I think. I used to but big league chewing gum and candy cigarettes back then too. Candy buttons were cool. Gummy bears seemed new. Microwaves were just getting affordable enough for everyone so a lot of things which should never go in the microwave did. I remember my Mom getting excited over her new microwave and attempting to roast a chicken in it....not good :(. Other things from the 80's were cherry coke, ring pops, jello pudding pops (delicious but off the market but maybe you can make your own. They were just frozen jello pudding), Count Chocula, Frankenberry, Boo Berry cereals, Smurf Berry Crunch, Cookie Crunch cereal, fruit roll ups were new, Lik Em Aids, Kool Aid, corn nuts, combos and bugles...thats all I can think of.

Most iconic food of the 1980s is expensive - champagne, lobsters and oysters in contrast to the 1970s pawn cocktail, instant mash potato and pot noodles. Nouvelle Cuisine was in meaning tiny portions of quality food with artistic garnishes on large plates. 1980s biggest biggest takeaway food was the sandwich before then a sandwich was something you made at home and took with you not something you bought in a shop. The jacket potato with various fillings was also popular in the early 80s. As far as drinks goes the cocktail made a comeback in the 1980s and tropical cocktails were in especially Pi?a colada. For non alcoholic drink bottled water was all the rage

perhaps the prawn coctail??prawns with sauce, (i think its boiled prawns and the sauce consists of mayo and ketchup)
i can't recall anything else. try googling " typical 1980's dishes"
