Table setting (fingerbowl)?!

Question: Table setting (fingerbowl)?
Hello.

This christmas I plan on having a sit down formal christmas dinner at my home as this will be my babys first christmas. When I grew up we always had formal dinners however this may shock some people but it has been ten years since I'veactually sat down to a formal dinner. I have forgotten do i always place a fingerbowl on the table even if I am not offering any form of finger foods?

Thank you in advance

Just give everyone a nice big napkin to put on their laps and they'll be fine.

Don't think you need to if not having finger foods. But if you do, they come out at the end of the meal. You could just have steamy little towels.

Fingerbowls, used to wash one's fingers are generally not presented to guest with a clean cloth napkin until between dinner and dessert. or after dessert.
